"Respecting the Environment"

Histroy has shown us that as a power on this earth we have paid little respect for the planet, ourselves or the other creatures with which we share. Whole species have become extinct and daily there is reference to global warming, mutant diseases and other human influenced disaster. It is hard to remain positive about the future for our children and our childrens children.

What are we doing?

In a world controlled by Multi National Corporations and Wealthy Individuals focussed on power and control it is easy to become resigned to a subserviant existance with little understanding of how we can as individuals make a difference. It seems like our choices are being restricted to fit within a commercial framework to satisfy the company boardrooms and corridors of parliament. No longer does it seem to many like we live in a world of free choice, and the choices we do have are slowly killing us.

Yes, you could look at the Human - Planet situation and become totally negative and resigned to the fact that it may be to late to make a difference. But guess what, you would be adding to the problem because for too long now not enough people have been prepared to stand up and be counted. In many ways I guess I was one of these people, living excessively, wasting resources, hiding behind ignorance and allowing the world to pass by without a second thought.

I ask myself... What can I do?"

And then the penny dropped, ding! What the hell was I doing, being a part of the culture that bagged greenies and contributing to the downfall of the human race. It was then that I decided to look at how I could do my part to help right the sinking ship. It was about time for me to lend my weight, however small toward the conservation of our planet and our race. My search began.

Yes, we can make a difference!

It took me a while to understand that their is power in collectiveness, that a lot of little people combined, making informed life decisions can really make a difference. By choosing the right environmentaly friendly products, making conscious decisions to reduce our own footprints on the planet, supporting green organisations and influencing others, we can help.

I'm asking for your support!

That's right, and I don't really want much in return. I simply want you to stop and think. I want you to consider what you are doing now and how it is affecting our planet. I want you to dig deep into your environmental conscience and give toward our future.

And while you are there maybe a donation to Greenpeace or your local environmental action group.
