When I think of Meditation I think of Zen Monks...
Or old Wise Men spending all their life focusing and meditating toward a greater inner harmony. Traditionally this has been the way of achieving inner peace, harmony and enlightenment through meditation. It involved spending years even lifetimes slowly working multiple hours a day toward an infinite goal. Don't get me wrong, I admire and look up to those with enough dedication and commitment to follow their path with strength and focus.
People in western society however...
Have taken a many facetted approach to self improvement, taking bits and pieces of all sorts of therapies and systems to try and muddle their way to a better inner self. I, like many others have attended a number of self development courses, workshops, therapies and read many self help books in my journey for emotional and mental self improvement. While I felt that as a person I had grown considerably because of this I needed a more powerful and time efficient system. Regretfully though, it wasn't something that I had asked myself before, I was too busy just being, but I should have known because the physical signs where starting to manifest themselves at the ripe old age of 50. This was when I realised that the answer lay in a change of lifestyle, a change that needed to include a cleansing of both my inner and outer self. The next question was, where do I start? The answer to that was what has changed my life dramatically.
Of course, you must start from the inside...
I knew from past experiences that inner work can dig up some painful baggage and create some stress and trauma of it's own. This is why I needed to look at what meditative systems where around that where highly effective and relevant for me personally. Armed with my new found desire to change my life, support from my partner and a definite time frame to work within (the rest of my life) I set about the task of changing my life for the better.
